Problem

A large agricultural company was looking for a solution to improve efficiency when collecting readings from plant tissue samples.

Users were required to record readings from moisture analyzers into a lab notebook, and then transcribe that data into an Excel® spreadsheet. The data would then be printed out and pasted onto thermo paper. All data would then be verified by a quality assurance technician to ensure that the readings collected from the moisture analyzers were correct with multiple paper copies of the results signed off by technicians and stored.

It was a time consuming, error prone procedure that unnecessarily used up a lot of paper.

Solution

Using Collect’s powerful DirectXL™ technology, the company has interfaced its three moisture analyzers so the data is now sent directly to an Excel spreadsheet. By having the data sent directly to Excel®, Collect has eliminated the need for manual entry of data, reduced the amount of time spent by technicians recording and verifying data, and has dramatically reduced the overall amount of time to collect, record and approve the results. Collect has also eliminated all of that paper use.

Result

Collect has improved the efficiency and helped this laboratory grow from manual data collection and reporting to fully automating their data reporting practices.
