Business Analyst

Labtronics is currently recruiting for a Business Analyst to join our Research and Development team. Reporting to the VP of Development, the Business Analyst will be responsible for identifying the business needs and business solutions required to support the development, enhancements and ongoing maintenance of products and services developed by Labtronics.

Specific responsibilites will include, but are not limited to:

•  Investigating, analyzing and understanding customer business needs and requirements, in order to
   recommend appropriate solutions and translate them into application and operational requirements.
•  Collaborating with the development team to establish the business and technical vision for the
   product.
•  Facilitating user group discussions between the Sales and Technical teams in support of the
   development of the business specifications and/or needs.
•  Analyzing, designing and developing detailed specifications for new projects and enhancement
   requests according to standard templates.
•  Performing GUI, Screen and Interface designs with a focus on usability and aesthetics.
•  Working with the Sales and Marketing team to establish strategies that will create a market appeal of
   the product.
•  Being the liaison between the business units, the technology and the support teams to ensure the
   technology and solutions being delivered meet the needs of the business partners and client
   expectations are being effectively managed and met.
•  Participating regularly in project review meetings and submit written reports regarding status,
   progress, client issues, and proposed solutions as required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

•  A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related discipline.
•  A minimum of 3 years experience specializing in Business Analysis within the software development
   industry.
•  Excellent written and oral communications skills and strong documentation experience specifically
   creating detailed business requirements.
•  Strong attention to detail, self-motivated and highly organized with solid analytical and problem
   solving skills.
•  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Additional Assets:

•  Project Management skills
•  Experience working with Oracle and SQL Server
•  Experience working with IIS and other Web technologies.

Project Manager (Guelph)

Labtronics is currently recruiting for a Project Manager within our Research and Development team. Reporting to the VP of Research and Development, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing the delivery of software development projects for Labtronics. The successful candidate will develop the project strategy, which includes planning and scheduling to ensure that all the necessary components and deliverables will be met.

Specific responsibilites will include, but are not limited to:

•  Planning, organizing, leading and monitoring the activities of the project team while maintaining
   overall control of the schedule and the delivery of all expected deliverables.
•  Communicating the project progress to management, providing reports detailing the various statues
   of the project and its overall success rating. Suggestions on how to resolve any issues within the
   project will also be a key responsibility.
•  Understanding, enforcing and refining project management methodologies followed within
   Labtronics. Actively seeking out means to improve the Labtronics software delivery process at both
   the policy and individual project level.
•  Ensuring effective tracking of outstanding deliverables, milestones and change requests. Identifying
   resources needed and assigning individual responsibilites to the project team.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

•  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline.
•  A proven track record and a minimum of 5 years experience managing complex projects through the
   full life cycle, i.e. project planning, executing, controlling, and closing.
•  Solid understanding of the software development life cycle with a general understanding of
   applications programming, database, and system design.
•  Understanding of both web and client/server architectures.
•  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
•  Detail oriented, self-motivated and highly organized with solid problem solving skills.
•  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to motivate team members.

Additional Assets:

•  Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or working towards it.
•  Experience working with Oracle and SQL Server

Product Specialist (Guelph)

Our Product Specialists provide a strong and unique voice within our sales team, ensuring that our solutions meet the needs of our ever-expanding customer base they are continuously challenged and appreciated.

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, the successful candidate will work directly with our sales force to assist our potential clients with the technical challenges associated with laboratory automation issues.

This is an ideal position for someone who has a passion for computers but enjoys interacting with customers and has experience in sales.

Summary of essential job responsibilities:

•  Analyze current Labtronics products and develop a competent level of understanding of there
   functionality and use
•  Provide customer demonstrations both in person and through WebEx
•  Assist the sales team by performing technical needs assessments, assisting with project
   proposals, quotations and project work
•  Providing a high level of technical guidance to the sales team

Minimum Requirements:

•  University degree in science, or computer science
•  2+ years work experience in a laboratory setting and working with analytical instrumentation
•  Previous experience working in sales is a plus
•  Strong technical knowledge of Windows operating systems and programs, SQL Server and Oracle
   databases
•  Strong competence in Visual Basic 6.0 or higher
•  C, Java, XML - all great assets

Successful candidate will:

•  Have excellent verbal and written communication/facilitation skills
•  Possess strong presentation skills and the ability to formulate answers quickly

Applications Developer (Guelph)

Labtronics is currently recruiting for a Application Developer to join our Professional Services team. Reporting to the VP of Service and Support our Application Developers assist customers with the customization of products sold by Labtronics.

Summary of Essential Job Responsibilities:

•  Develop application modules inside of Labtronics products (VB type programming)
•  Configure our products for specific customer requirements
•  Provide web-based training to customers
•  Provide telephone support services
•  Perform other related duties, as required

Successful Candidate will:

•  2+ years of work experience providing application support services to external clients
•  University degree in science, or computer science
•  Strong technical knowledge of databases (Oracle and SQL Server)
•  Knowledge of programming and scripting (i.e., VB, C, Java, ASP, etc.)

Quality Control Technician (Guelph)

We are currently seeking an energetic and performance driven Intermediate QC Technician for our Guelph location.

Job Responsibilities:


•   Testing and qualifying scientific software produced by Labtronics
•   Working closely with the product development team using an established testing methodology to ensure our software products meet our high quality standards.
•   Development and review of test plans and outlines, which are focused to test and stress the documented functionality of Labtronics applications.
•   Perform other related duties, as required


Ideal candidates will have:

•   2-3 years of software quality control experience
•   Firm understanding of software quality control process
•   University degree or College diploma in computer science
•   Strong technical knowledge of Windows operating systems and programs
•   Excellent verbal and written communication/facilitation skills
