Nexxis CIM is a web-based application that can be used right out-of-the-box to record and track chemical inventories.

With additional configuration, Nexxis CIM can be integrated with laboratory balances to ensure accurate recording of chemical use. An even higher level of automation can be achieved by integrating Nexxis CIM into common laboratory procedures making Chemical Inventory Management an integral part of your laboratory's operations.

Nexxis CIM is built on the Nexxis Application Development Platform, which uniquely combines a powerful Application Development Tool for developing laboratory solutions with a scalable Laboratory Platform to deploy, manage and execute the applications.

A Web-Based Solution

The Nexxis Web Client allows laboratories to implement a zero footprint, multi-tier, web-based application that can be accessed by using Microsoft® Internet Explorer®, eliminating the need to install software on the client side. While the Nexxis Web Client manages the user interface, the application logic and data management are handled by the central Nexxis Administrator and Server. This simplifies deployment of Nexxis Applications and reduces the time and effort required to validate the solution in a regulated environment.

Merging Inventory Control With Lab Procedures

When Nexxis is used to control the execution of procedures in the lab, the Nexxis CIM module is able to add advanced control of chemical inventory levels. By adding inventory control to standard lab procedures Nexxis has the ability to automatically do the following:

• Check the expiry date on all reagents before they are used and prevent their use if expired
• Issue emergency re-order notices when inventory goes below critical levels
• Send e-mail requests to have more reagents prepared
• Track reagent batch numbers with samples being tested
• Automatically record the name of the person who used the chemical

Nexxis CIM integrates into standard Nexxis methods providing a total laboratory automation solution.

Inventory Adjustments

Inventory can be adjusted at required intervals either manually, or automatically, if measuring electronically using a balance. As inventory levels are updated the program will also check the expiry date and warn the user if any item has expired.

Adjusting inventory in real time improves the efficiency of the ordering process.

Manual and Automated Data Collection

Data for Nexxis CIM can be entered manually or collected automatically from instruments such as balances or bar code readers. Electronic data collection reduces manual operations and improves accuracy.

Managing Containers

Nexxis CIM uses container-based tracking to manage multiple lots of the same chemical. The total inventory as well as the individual amount of each container is available. The program also records the container number used when inventory amounts are reduced. In this way, individual results can be traced back to specific containers of the chemical.

The disposal process used for empty containers is tracked, providing an historical record of each container. Managing container disposal will help you meet regulatory requirements and reduce disposal costs.

Tracking Expiry Dates

Each chemical can be assigned an expiry period. Nexxis CIM will track this date on a container basis and flag the item when it expires. When Nexxis CIM is used in conjunction with other Nexxis methods, a user can be prevented from using an expired chemical.

Preventing the use of expired chemicals will improve the quality of results.

Managing the Ordering Process

Each chemical is assigned a minimum stock quantity. When the inventory for a particular chemical falls below this level the chemical is automatically marked for re-order. An order list can be produced at any time. Nexxis CIM also sets a critical stock quantity. When a chemical falls below the critical level, an e-mail is automatically sent to request a re-order.

Real time inventory updates ensures that chemicals are always in stock for required analyses.

Locating a Chemical

Missing items cause a significant amount of wasted time and added expense when duplicate inventory is ordered. Nexxis CIM tracks both the proper stored location of an item, as well as the last location used and the name of the person who used it last. This information is readily available and will reduce lost productivity.

Managing the Preparation of Reagents/Formulas

When reagents (i.e. formulations, standards, control checks) are produced in-house, Nexxis CIM controls their preparation and tracks their use. Ingredient lists are stored for each reagent and used to guide the operator through the preparation steps.

The preparation of in-house reagents can significantly reduce the cost of analysis. Nexxis CIM ensures that this process is controlled properly.

Manage and Display MSDS

Nexxis CIM helps manage MSDS, ensuring that they are current and have not expired. It makes them available for display at any point in a Nexxis method. This eliminates the manual process of copying sheets and distributing them around the company and ensures that employees have access to the correct sheet. Nexxis CIM can also integrate with MSDS services such as Chemwatch.
