Eliminate time spent on manual data transcription

The time it takes to manual record data from an ICP is time that your analysts could be spending actually running samples. It is also creating a time lag between when your samples are analyzed and when the results are available in your LIMS.

Eliminate data entry errors

There is a general rule of thumb that every level of manual data transcription incurs an error rate of 3% - 5%. This means that if you are manually writing down sample results and then keying them into your LIMS, you are adding a 6% - 10% error rate to all your sample results.

Automate sequence creation in your ICP software

LimsLink can automatically query your LIMS for a list of samples that are due to be run on your ICP, add your Standards and Control Samples to that list and transfer it to your ICP software as a complete sequence, ready to run. It takes next to no time – samples don’t get left out and analysts still have the option to edit the sequence, once it is in your ICP software.

LimsLink has a built-in spreadsheet application where you can automate additional calculations that need to be done with your ICP data before going to LIMS. The LimsLink modules can identify sample results that are out-of-range and highlight those results so that the analyst can take corrective action immediately.

LimsLink can identify and highlight sample results that are below detection limits. Many of our clients use LimsLink to automatically replace the actual result value with an indicator like "ND" for Non-Detect or "<5" and then report that indicator to the LIMS rather than the actual result.

One concern about automated data transfer is that the lab loses control over the results that get sent to the LIMS. For example, if an off-scale sample needs to be diluted and re-run, the analyst will usually only want to enter the result from the diluted sample.
