What is Nexxis iLAB?

Nexxis iLAB is an informatics solution that integrates your existing laboratory systems with all of your labs instrumentation and manual procedures…in real-time.

Nexxis iLAB integrates people with laboratory systems, real-time information, instrumentation, manual procedures, and other value added COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf Solutions).

Nexxis iLAB is a new breed of informatics technology that provides an unparalleled level of integration, solving such key problems as:

Integration

Nexxis iLAB integrates LIMS, data managements systems, instrument data systems, manufacturing systems (ERP, …) and all instrumentation. It glues together all of your existing systems into one cohesive system that is able to intelligently exchange data. This integration increases the value of each of your existing laboratory systems.

Real-Time Resource Management

Unlike other systems that only track and schedule resources, Nexxis iLAB executes analytical procedures at the bench level, and can therefore control resources in real-time. Instead of telling you which resources are available, Nexxis iLAB makes sure the correct ones are being used. At each step in an analytical process, it is able to ensure that the right person carries out the task, that the correct instrument is used, that the instrument is calibrated, etc. If any condition is not correct, the process can be stopped.

Real-Time Workflow Control

Nexxis iLAB manages the work in real-time, scheduling events such as deadlines for tests, calibration of instruments, approval of finished work, etc. Nexxis iLAB not only manages work that is carried out within its own applications, it can also schedule work in other software systems. For example, LIMS worklists can be sent to a CDS for analysis based on priority criteria controlled inside Nexxis iLAB.

Other systems may be able to schedule work, but this does not provide real-time control. Nexxis iLAB works at the chemist’s bench and can provide workflow control in real-time - as the work is being done – catching potential errors before they happen.

Automation of Manual Procedures and Protocols

Nexxis iLAB automates your manual paper-based procedures (worksheets, forms, SOPs, QC Sheets, etc) into electronic worksheets and electronic procedures. It controls the analyst at the bench level and guides them through each step of the process. In addition to collecting observational data, it will also interface with simple devices such as balances and pH meters to collect data directly. The complete analysis process is controlled so that the analysis is carried out the same way every time. Management can have confidence that the results are correct.

A Web-Based Solution

The Nexxis iLAB web client allows laboratories to implement a zero footprint, multi-tier, web-based application that can be accessed by using Microsoft® Internet Explorer®, eliminating the need to install software on the client side. While the Client manages the user interface, the application logic and data management are handled by the central Nexxis iLAB Servers. This simplifies deployment of Nexxis Applications and reduces the time and effort required to validate the solution in a regulated environment.

Meet Security and Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Nexxis iLAB addresses issues of data integrity and security and includes components required for compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, including electronics signatures, password protection, audit trail, archiving, method versioning, etc.

Nexxis iLAB includes a number of COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) solutions, which are complete and ready to go after installation. These include:

These applications can add tremendous value to a laboratory, but the real value lies in the integration between applications. The applications are not only integrated to one another; they can be easily integrated into customer specific processes, Nexxis ELN worksheets, LimsLink methods and even external applications.

How does Nexxis iLAB compare to LimsLink and Nexxis

Nexxis iLAB is built on the Nexxis Application Development Platform and includes all of the functionality found in the Labtronics products LimsLink and Nexxis, along with Nexxis ELN, LimsLink CDS and all of the other Nexxis applications. It combines all of these technologies into one highly integrated, web-based system that will manage a significant part of your laboratory.

How does Nexxis iLAB fit with existing systems?

Nexxis iLAB does not replace your existing systems such as LIMS, data management systems or data systems for complex instruments (e.g. CDS). Instead, Nexxis iLAB enhances these systems and provides additional often missing functionality.

Existing systems become more valuable as a result of vastly improved, transparent integration between systems. Nexxis iLAB ensures data integrity between various data storage systems and makes sure the right data is stored in the correct location without data loss.

In addition to this, Nexxis iLAB can work with existing applications such as documentation storage, tracking of training records, calibration systems, etc. If an existing system is working well, there is no reason to replace it. However, the added integration capabilities of Nexxis iLAB will allow you to connect such systems to the analyst at the work bench in real-time, thereby enhancing the applications value.

In situations where a system has not yet been implemented, for example instrument calibration, Nexxis iLAB provides an out-of-the-box solution.
