Web-based applications bring significant benefits to the laboratory environment including ease of installation, validation, management and in particular for Nexxis, integration.
Zero Foot Print Web Client
Nexxis utilizes a zero foot print client, so no software or files are installed on a PC accessing the system. The use of web-based applications such as Nexxis, significantly reduces client-side issues such as software deployment, management and updates. Installation is as simple as pointing your Microsoft® Internet Explorer® browser to a URL.
The Nexxis client is always consistent across all of your workstations. There is no need for scheduling access times to physical PCs and adjusting work schedules of users.
Validation activity related to installation and operation can be significantly reduced as a result of the removal of the requirement for individual physical installation processes on PCs. The absence of a traditional client application removes the requirement to spend time and resources testing the install of that client on individual PCs.
Scalability
Nexxis is designed so that it can be deployed either on a local, laboratory, organizational or enterprise level. To accomplish this scalability, a 3-tier architecture model has been utilized.
A zero foot print web browser acts as the client, an application server handles the business logic and the databases are managed in a separate tier. Breaking down the function of any of these tiers further leads to an n-tier environment, which increases the potential for easy scalability. This modular approach allows for flexibility with the potential to scale to your particular needs. A web-based application designed to be n-tier can be run from the full range of a single PC deployment, all the way up to a large-scale enterprise installation.
The Nexxis Platform employs load-balancing algorithms to supply timely service to growing number of users.
Instrument Integration
Nexxis utilizes the Labtronics Instrument Library, which includes over 400 laboratory instruments. By adding instrument data collection with Nexxis, result transfer is simplified and secured. This eliminates transcription errors and ensures the correct data is collected every time.
Instruments are interfaced directly to the Nexxis Application Server. All communications, commands and readings occur centrally; as a result no information is ever stored or potentially lost at the client.
Integration with Other systems
One of the most difficult problems for companies to solve is the connectivity between systems. Tremendous increases in productivity can be achieved by solving these problems well. Labtronics Inc. has established itself as a leader in laboratory system integration.
Nexxis benefits from this experience and is readily able to integrate with other systems such as LIMS, ERP, ECM/SDMS, and applications like LimsLink. All applications interface with Nexxis via the Application Server.
